As a congregation rooted in the Reformed and evangelical traditions of the Church, we hold to these core values:
Christ-Centered
Jesus Christ is at the center of all church life at First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. Worship, teaching, service, fellowship, and evangelism grow out of our joyful response to what God
the Father has done in sending His Son to be our Savior and Lord. In the power of His Spirit, we are bold in our identification with Jesus as His followers and servants, as He
transforms us into people who increasingly reflect His love to each other and to a hurting world.
Biblically Faithful
We believe that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and teaches the truth in all that it affirms. Therefore we seek to know, understand, and live under the authority of God's Word. This happens
through faithful biblical preaching and teaching in the many areas of church life, as well as through personal study of the Bible. We believe Scripture is to be learned and lived out in all areas of
life, and it is the source of truth for our maturing walk with God.
Worship
We seek to offer joyful and authentic worship where the community encounters and experiences God in Christ. This worship leads people to respond with decisions of commitment and discipleship so that
they become ever more passionate and devoted followers of Christ.
Outreach and Service
We seek to demonstrate God's love in our community as we serve those around us. In this, we follow the example of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve. We want to cultivate an awareness of
the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all people, and we are ready with a helping hand and gentle, respectful words to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Our goal is to deploy
people as faithful witnesses into the community, the country, and the world as caring, sharing, sacrificial, courageous, compassionate, and passionate followers of Christ who share the good news of
God's love in Christ with all who will listen, and work for justice and peace in a broken world.
Prayer
Prayer is intimacy with God. It is the often unseen spiritual discipline for growing in our relationship with God, for seeking to know His will for us as individuals and as a church, and for bringing
the needs of God's people and the world before Him. Ours is a church that knows without prayer and reliance on God's grace all of the strategies and programs it may have are hollow and
powerless.
Community
We seek to be a church home where people of all ages and backgrounds can "come as they are" and feel welcomed, develop deep and lasting friendships and find a place to serve and grow
spiritually. Our desire is for people to experience Christ by participating in a community of believers where grace is embodied and proclaimed through people living in relationships of love,
acceptance, and forgiveness. We want all who have the desire for more intimate community to participate in small groups or get connected with others who share common interests. True Christian
community creates opportunities for people from all walks of life to serve, learn and grow together.
Grace
As undeserving and rebellious people who are known and forgiven by a loving God, we seek to offer God's love through Jesus Christ to all so they may share in His goodness. We understand that we do
not merit God's favor and are thus quick to forgive and be forgiven. In gratitude to God, we strive to live according to the teachings of Scripture, not to earn God's love and favor but to
demonstrate our love for Him and thankfulness for His grace to us. We believe that we are not about us! We are all about the Lord Jesus Christ and living as a people who demonstrate his
life-changing grace and truth. We seek to do so both locally and globally.
