A Season of Growth and Loss
Ruth Callahan entered eternity on January 28 unexpectedly after finishing our 2019 Annual Report, showing her determination and strength before self. She and Pete together began to work for this church in 2005. She was Pastor Jonathan’s right hand over the years, quietly taking over more and more office duties, a ‘Quiet Angel’. Ruth worked in our office as both Bookkeeper and Front Office and mentored two new Front Office Managers over the years. She was the all-around go-to person for answers to our questions. She was there to welcome and enfold folks.
We feel her absence acutely. We love you, Ruthie.
Elena Engelsman has relocated to Hawaii for her new solo life close to relatives and new adventures. We praise Elena for her heart for people and her founding Grief Share in this place after losing her soulmate Ron, and for her quiet ways for the Lord. We love you, Elena.
Jennie Zimmerman has moved to Ohio this summer to be near family after losing her beloved Fred.
We praise her for her voice of an angel; she sang ‘ The Lord’s Prayer’ acapella on one of her last Sundays with us. We love you, Jennie.
Ann Brubaker had a deep faith and an inquiring mind. Name a task at the church, Ann had taken her turn at it! She was a Stephens Minister as well. Ann and Hank went to Colorado to be near family when their health declined. Ann entered eternity on June 11, 2020. We miss your quiet smile, Ann.
We miss Hank in worship especially for his well-placed ‘Amens’ and hope he feels comfortable in his new church in Colorado Springs in affirming of the Word!
Kaye Hassell quickly nudged her way into our hearts with her open love for her Lord and her thanksgiving for our love, which went both ways. Due to health issues, Kaye has agreed to move to CA to be close to her son and family. We miss you Kaye and your shining smile.
Karen Strack has elected to move closer to her family as well in September. Her devotion to this congregation for 19 years and her willingness for committee work is of note and for her love for us. Karen seemed to possess an inner vision as her eyesight began to diminish and we appreciate her!
Nancy Rae has a Prayer Warrior heart and was always available for prayer. She is a new 2019 Covenant Partner and we know our light will shine wherever she takes it. This was Nancy’s second home for the winter season and she and Doug have determined it is time to return to their primary residence full time. We miss you, Nancy!
Ruby Lane was a longtime member with a heart for people. She was soft-spoken and always willing to help. She was a Shepherd when our church body had Pastures and a Stephens Minister. In declining health, Ruby lost her battle of life on earth, entering eternity in September of this year. We feel a void when we look to a certain pew on a certain side of the sanctuary. We miss you, Ruby.
Our candle of Light was sent out with each of these strong women! Do I hear an Amen?
